Support a new kayak company

Hi. I'm an avid kayaker and fitness enthusiast.

In July of 2021 I had the opportunity to purchase the assets of my favorite kayak company, West Side Boat Shop, from Doug Bushnell, the original founder, designer and builder.  Doug retired in 2019 and I love his kayak designs so much I could not let them just fade away into history.

 

I've since relocated all of Doug's kayak molds from his barn in NY to a local barn here in VA and have secured a manufacturing partner, Turning Point Boatworks in Richmond, VA.

 

I'm looking for a little seed money to build some demo boats and surfski prototypes as my personal investment in this venture has reached its limit before we've even sold our first boat. I'll need to produce at least 4-5 demo boats for people to test paddle plus a few prototype surfski  designs from the same hulls.  Just the carbon, Kevlar and epoxy material costs to build these boats to re-launch the business will exceed what I'm asking in this campaign.

 

I'm trying to keep this business alive because I believe these are some of the best performance kayak designs in the world.
