Support A New Dance Work by Gwendolyn Knapp

Donation protected
Hello friends, family, community,

This fall I am presenting a new evening-length dance work, titled Record Ephemera, at Kestrels in Brooklyn, NY. The show will have a four night run starting October 31st through November 3rd, 2024, and will be the culmination of a year and a half long rehearsal process. Information about tickets and showtimes can be found here!

To support the creation of this performance, I am raising $5,000. For the first time I am self producing, meaning I am directing and choreographing a group, organizing the logistics of the show, and fundraising to cover the costs of the production. Please donate to support the work of my collaborators Angel Acuña, Tim Bendernagel, Miriam Gabriel, Amelia Heintzelman (dancers), Stevie Knauss (stenographer), Lavinia Eloise Bruce (sound), Willa Schwabsky (styling), and cover the costs of lighting, set design, and costuming. The performance would not exist without the generous work of the cast and crew, so it is incredibly important to me that they are compensated for their contributions to the process.

Inspired by the emotionality and personal anxiety of time passing, Record Ephemera blends choreography, text, and sound to explore the materialization of time. This performance enacts a live transcription of rehearsal notations, photographs, and video documentation, in an attempt to fossilize a dance.

I appreciate any amount you can give, so THANK YOU for contributing to the life of this performance!

Your donations will help me:
-Pay my collaborators (including all performers, a lighting designer, stylist, production manager, photographer, and videographer)
-Cover costume, lighting, and prop costs
-Cover show week essentials
-Keep the ticket costs affordable and accessible

I am endlessly grateful for developing this work with such unique individuals, and for Katie Workum to let us imagine at Kestrels. I would be nowhere without my dance community, and am constantly inspired by my peer’s independent drive to make and share work. Your contribution supports not only the presentation of an artwork, but upholds the experience of community for myself, my collaborators, and those we get to share work with.

Thank you <3
