Support a New Beginning for Sally and Sasha

My name is Debra -- I live in Etowah, NC. I am raising funds for one of my best friends: Sally McCoy and her daughter, Sasha McCoy, in Burnsville, NC. They lost everything to Hurricane Helene. Their home has been declared unsalvageable. They got out with three outfits and their two dogs. They are not permitted to return to the property due to the danger.

The road is impassable.

What is left of the house is unstable.

Like so many, this is a time to grieve, to process, and to look ahead to what is next.

You can help with what is next. Please join me -- anything you can give will be much needed and greatly appreciated. All funds will go directly to Sally with the purpose of helping establish a new home and rebuild her life.

This used to be a lovely yard with many trees -- homes were lined up along the river.

And now there is nothing.

The remnant of Sally's home is all that is left. And it is unsalvageable.

Monday, October 7, 2024, Sally and Sasha got to go home to see what is left. The foundation is split, the mud is so deep it is dangerous to go in what is left of the house, the septic has busted, and the stench is unbearable.

This is a map from flood.nc.gov that shows the flooding that took place. In RED, that is Sally's home. The BLUE is water that should NOT be there! It shows how far the waters reached and completely engulfed the homes up and down that area.
