Support a NEGS Old Girl - S4 Breast Cancer

Suzy McDonald (now Collyer) graduated from NEGS in 2003.

After only two years as a boarder, NEGS quickly became home (White House and then Dickens) and you could often find her either at the riding school with her beloved Hermes, in the library (as one of the founding members of the New England Readers Discussion Society), or in the common room, watching Lord of the Rings for the 89th time.

While the same cannot perhaps be said of her maths teacher (apparently reading Romeo & Juliet in maths is frowned upon), Mrs Stanton (History) and Mrs King (English) both adored her. I’m sure they’d be proud to know that Suzy has followed in their venerable footsteps, being the most loved History and English teacher of the girls at Fairholme, Toowoomba, where she and her husband Matt both teach.

Suzy made many friends at NEGS, many of whom she is still in contact after 20 years. In that 20 years Suzy has married Matt (her real life Orlando Bloom!), had a delightful daughter Imogen, and been awarded her masters in Viking Studies.

Unfortunately, the breast cancer she was diagnosed with in 2019 has metastasised, meaning that she has to fight all over again so that she can get on with the important things - being a mother, wife, teacher, student, and friend.
