My son and I have 30 days to leave our home.

I was born and raised here in Cold Springs, NV and have spent most of my life in this area. I moved to Oregon and lived there for about two years. Unfortunately, due to domestic violence, the kids and I had to return to Coldsprings in 1997. We ended up moving in with my mom.

My mom lived in this house, and after my dad passed away in 2007, she lost half of their income. In a panic, she took out a reverse mortgage—likely with the first company that would accept her without doing any research.

My daughter moved out in 2019, and now it’s just my son and I. We tried to take care of my mom as she aged, but over time, she began to decline mentally.

She passed away on January 3, 2020—right around when COVID hit. I wish I could say she left the house to us, but she didn’t. There were many things she didn’t take care of, and she left behind a mess for me and my siblings. Since I’m the one still living here—and they all have their own lives—everything has fallen on me.

My hope was to one day buy the house, but that dream is no longer realistic. I was working at a dentist’s office, but the doctor came down with COVID long-haul, and we had to permanently close the office. I’ve been searching for a job ever since. I am currently doing DoorDash, just to survive. It’s very uncomfortable for a woman to drive to remote places in the dark. I have been on several interviews but have not been able to secure a job.

I received notice from the mortgage company on July 19th that they will be reclaiming the property. Legally, I must vacate the property. I have 30 days to move out. I don’t want to leave my pets behind. I’m doing everything I can to keep us together, but the truth is—I have no money and nowhere else to go but to Idaho, if they came tomorrow .

This whole entire thing has left me ill. I wake up every morning nauseous because my stomach is always in turmoil over this situation. I haven’t been sleeping well and getting enough rest because of this. The stress has been more than I can take at times.

We are trying to move to Idaho, where I have family and hopefully we can start a new life. Unfortunately, they are not financially in a position to help us get there. At least there, we wouldn’t be homeless and our animals would be with us.

I humbly ask for anything you can help out with. Everything and anything would be greatly appreciated.
