Asking for help is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I have always prided myself on being the rock for my family, but lately, the waves have become too high to navigate alone. I am reaching out today because I am terrified of losing the home where I am raising my two little girls.

The last few months have been a "perfect storm." In January, a serious car accident—which I wasn’t at fault for—resulted in my car being totaled. With no payout forthcoming, I had to drain every cent of my savings to find a way to stay mobile for work and for my daughters.

This hit at the worst possible time. My hours at work were already short, as they were cut at the start of the holiday season. I spent months stretching every dollar to its breaking point, choosing between utilities and groceries. I have finally returned to my full 40 hours a week as of mid-April, but the gap left behind feels like an impossible hole to climb out of.

I am working as hard as I can, but catching up on months of back-rent while keeping up with current bills on a modest income feels like I'm drowning. I am stressed and worried to death that I will lose this home—the very foundation I am using to build a future for my girls.

My daughters are my entire world. Everything I earn and everything I am goes into making sure they are set up for success. I just need a hand to help me bridge this gap so I don't lose our sanctuary.
