Hi, my name is Alex, and asking for help like this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But right now, I’m at a point where I don’t have many options left, and I’m reaching out with honesty and hope.
On May 3rd, I was in a near-death car accident that completely shifted my life. While I was still hospitalized, heavily medicated, and without access to my phone, two people I trusted deeply, people I considered my best friends, created a GoFundMe “on my behalf.” At the time, I agreed to the idea but had no control or access over the account.
Fast forward to today: those same individuals ghosted me and withdrew the donations meant to help me and my children through that crisis. I haven’t received any part of the donation. As soon as I realized what happened, I reached out to GoFundMe, explained the situation, and asked for the funds to either be returned to me or refunded to the donors. They’ve since confirmed the account was mishandled and classified it as theft. I’ve also filed a police report to try to hold them accountable.
That money was supposed to help cover June’s rent and give me time to recover-mentally, physically, and financially. I haven’t even had the space to grieve or fully heal because I’ve been in survival mode ever since. I don’t have family here, and I’ve been doing everything I can to keep my kids safe and our heads above water.
So here I am, asking for help the right way. I’m not looking for pity, just a chance to breathe again. If you’re able to contribute or even just share this, please know that it would mean the world to me and my kids. I appreciate every single person who takes the time to care.
