Help Bring a Life-Saving Medicine Home: A Journey to Heal Addiction at Its Root

Dear friends, family, and compassionate souls from around the world,

My name is Shawn Huntley, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support in one of the most important missions of my life—a calling to travel to Africa to receive training from the 10th-generation Bwiti shaman, Muganda, at the Bwiti House in Gabon. This sacred journey is not for me alone, but for every person, every family, and every community that has been devastated by addiction.

For over 20 years, I’ve been immersed in Indigenous healing traditions—serving in the Lakota Sundance, carrying the sacred pipe, walking with the Mi’kmaq teachings of the East, and working with Amazonian plant medicines. In this time, I’ve seen many methods for healing trauma and addiction—but none as consistently transformative as the sacred medicine of Iboga, which the Bwiti people have protected and practiced with for thousands of years.

What I’ve discovered through study, prayer, and witnessing firsthand is this:

Iboga has the power to free people from addiction—for life.

The statistics are astonishing. Clinical results and traditional experience show that Iboga, when administered in the proper spiritual context, has an 85% success rate in helping individuals break free from addiction after just one ceremony. With a second ceremony, that number rises into the low-to-mid 90% range.

Let that sink in—90%. In a world drowning in addiction, relapse, and pain, there is nothing else on this planet that produces these kinds of results.

The Bwiti tradition doesn’t just address the physical dependency—it reaches the soul. It guides people to the root of their suffering, shows them who they truly are, and reconnects them to the truth, to spirit, and to purpose. The medicine doesn’t heal for you—it shows you how to heal yourself, and why you must.

I am being called to complete the Guided Journeying and Detox Facilitation Training directly from Muganda, a 10th-generation Bwiti shaman whose lineage has protected this knowledge since time immemorial. This training is designed to empower dedicated facilitators to hold safe, effective, and traditional ceremonies for those suffering from trauma, addiction, and spiritual disconnection.

Why I’m Asking for Your Help

This training is not funded or subsidized. Travel, tuition, ceremonial tools, lodging, and food add up quickly. While I’ve committed every resource I have, I am still short on what is needed to make this journey possible. That’s why I’m humbly asking for your support.

Your donation will help cover:
• Tuition and ceremonial mentorship at the Bwiti House
• Travel to and from Gabon, Africa
• Lodging, meals, and basic living expenses during the training
• Sacred tools needed for the work
• Integration materials and support systems to bring back home

What You’re Really Funding

You’re not just helping one person travel—you’re helping ignite a movement of healing in Eastern Canada and beyond. Upon completion of this training, I will return to serve Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities alike—offering traditional detox ceremonies, addiction healing retreats, and spiritual mentoring rooted in the sacred Bwiti lineage.

With addiction rates at crisis levels in our communities, I believe we must do more than manage symptoms—we must heal the root cause. Your support makes this possible.

Every donation—large or small—is a blessing.

Even if you cannot contribute financially, you can help by sharing this campaign with others. You never know who might be moved to give. Together, we can restore the spirit of our people, one heart at a time.

Thank you for believing in this work. Thank you for standing for life. Thank you for walking with me on this sacred path.

With deep humility and gratitude,
Shawn Huntley
