A good friend of mine (who would like to remain anonymous) is a member of a small island community in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). She is an excellent student who worked as a medical assistant for 7 years in a hospital in the FSM. Recently, she moved to the U.S. and is hoping to continue her career here, but her FSM credential is not recognized in the U.S. She has been admitted to a year-long Certified Medical Assistant program, which will provide her with the credential she needs to practice in the United States.
Micronesian citizens are eligible to receive Pell Grants, which will cover the majority of my friend's program costs, but these grants do not cover the $2,000 deposit that she is required to make before August 21. She is not in a financial position to cover this up-front cost alone—any support you can provide would be incredibly appreciated by her and her family.
Your donation will help a young Micronesian woman secure her place in the program and allow her to continue her career in medicine in the U.S. Please share widely if you can!
