Support a Memorial Bench for Grieving Parents

This is the official GoFundMe to help raise funds to install a bench at Babyland in the Riverside Cemetery. The bench will be placed across the road from Babyland and will be dedicated to all parents who have lost a child.

Our Story:

On May 9th, 2025 Slater and I lost our miracle baby. We’d been trying for over 6 years and had finally gotten pregnant. While I was only pregnant for nine weeks, it felt like an eternity of bliss and planning and hopes and dreams.

It all happened so fast. They couldn’t find the baby on an ultrasound, and we found out that my pregnancy was ectopic. Within a couple hours, we got a call that I was being sent to Sioux Falls for surgery and we needed to leave ASAP. After surgery, we were told that somehow the baby had implanted in my abdomen. The doctors and nurses told us that this is an extremely rare and very dangerous type of ectopic pregnancy and I was lucky that they found it early because it could have been so much worse.

We stayed 24 hours for observation and have spent the last month just trying to process everything and heal.

Physically, I am healing and doing well. Mentally, we are both struggling. We never expected this to happen and it has been a shock to us both.

Why am I telling you this? A couple reasons, the main one is because I’d like to ask for your prayers. We could really use them right now. The second reason is because for some reason talking about pregnancy loss is taboo. I don’t really understand that, but here is my effort in making a change. Pregnancy loss is real and it affects the people you love, even the people you least expect.

Last, but not least, I’m telling you all about this because of a project that has really spoken to my heart. I’m trying to raise funds to put a bench by Baby Land in our local cemetery. I think that grieving parents should have a place to go and mourn their child. If you would like to help make this a reality, please donate.
