Zdravo! We’re Kalina and Nevena - sisters, musicians, and creators of Darko Biberko, a children’s YouTube show that helps little ones learn the Macedonian language through music, stories, and play.

We were born in Macedonia and raised in Chicago. Our roots run deep: our grandfather played in the legendary Kočo Petrovski Orkestar, and we’ve continued the legacy - composing original Macedonian folk songs, launching the M Word documentary, and writing anthems for Vardar and the national football team.

We started Darko Biberko in 2018 for our nephew Damjan, to help him stay connected to his Macedonian identity while growing up abroad. Since then, the show has grown to 48,000 subscribers with Macedonian children tuning in from Australia, Canada, the U.S., Greece, and more.

Now we’re working on Season 4, our most important season yet, with songs, interactive lessons, and expanded content that continues to celebrate the Macedonian language and culture. Season 4 includes 4 songs and 2 lesson plans. The video above is a small snippet of one of the lessons.
