Who would have thought that two special Down syndrome young adults would meet via an app on Facebook, start chats, share likes, and fall in love.
Well, that's the short version. Once their feelings were shared with both sides of each family, plans started to roll.
There have been obstacles which have become a major challenge for them.
You see, one lives in Texas and the other lives in Wisconsin.
Their love has held long and strong. There have been occasional visits for each of them. Families have met during these visits. Unfortunately, frequent flyer miles were not an option and those few visits became too expensive.
But now it's time to bring them together, living with and loving each other.
Relocating challenges have made their goals a bit complicated.
Sadler lives in Wisconsin. He is an independent Down syndrome young adult. He has established himself with the loving support of his family.
Kayla lives in Texas. She too is a Down syndrome young adult who is learning to become a self-reliant person. One of those steps would be to move to Wisconsin, where she could continue her adventure in a small community that offers guidance and support with her fiancé.
How do we bring them together?
Easy enough, Kayla's guardian moves to Wisconsin with her in order to help with the transition and adjustments. Sounds simple, yet there is a very big hitch with this plan. Kayla is no longer working and her guardian, a retired teacher, receives a limited retirement fund. We know that's not a rich person's income.
Monthly expenses are being met in each hometown, but the move to Wisconsin is at a halt. Moving to a new location and another state can create anxiety, stress, and tears. Now, imagine a long drive, the packing and unpacking, and organizing a new home. We are asking for any amount that could help. Concerned expenses are for the drive (gas), hotels, first month's rent/down payment, utilities connections, and any other expense which normally arises during any move, especially from one state to another.
These two love birds deserve to finally start their happily ever after!
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
With love, may God bless each and everyone with a happier place in life!
