We are raising funds to take foster and low income students on an Art History trip to Chicago in May 2026. For many of these students, this will be their first time traveling and seeing world class art in person.
This experience can change how they see school, themselves, and their future.
Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Funds raised will be deposited into The Travel School, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and used to support the May 2026 trip for our students.
Dear Community Partner,
We are reaching out on behalf of our Charter School in Santa Rosa, a public independent study charter school serving students in our local community. At our resource center, we offer on-site classes designed to give students hands-on, meaningful educational experiences that go beyond traditional coursework.
One of these classes is Art History. In this course, students study major works of art, architecture, and cultural history, learning how art reflects the world it was created in and how it continues to shape the world we live in today. This year, our Art History class is hoping to travel to Chicago as a culminating educational experience. During the trip, students will visit world-class museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago, explore historic architecture, and engage directly with the art and history they have been studying all year.
Our Charter School is a Title I school. In our current Art History group of 15 students, including foster youth and low-income households. We are actively raising funds to ensure that all students are able to participate in this trip, regardless of their financial circumstances.
This experience will be deeply meaningful for our students. For many of them, travel has never felt accessible or possible. Being able to leave their familiar environment, even briefly, allows them to engage with school in a new and powerful way. It helps them see how big the world is, how full of possibility it can be, and how the limitations they face are situational, not permanent or defining.
We understand that travel is often viewed as a privilege. For our students, we see it as a necessity. Exposure to new places, ideas, and opportunities helps ignite curiosity, restore hope, and awaken dreams that may have been dormant for a long time. Our students carry heavy lives, and any opportunity we have to lighten that load and offer them a sense of wonder and possibility is one we feel deeply called to pursue.
We fully recognize the importance of meeting students’ basic needs in our community, and we honor the many ways organizations already support that work. At the same time, inspiration, curiosity, and the chance to imagine a bigger future should not be reserved only for the privileged. These experiences are part of what keeps students engaged in school and believing in themselves.
Thank you for considering supporting our students and for investing in their education, their growth, and their futures.
