Support a Legal Battle to Save a Beloved Home

Hello all!

As many know, I live in California. I’ve actually lived in the same apartment for just over 17 years. I love my home, my neighbors, and neighborhood. The added bonus is it’s rent controlled!

Unfortunately, this makes it in my landlord’s financial interest to get me to move as then he could raise the rent significantly! Over the years he has tried to bully me out, illegally entered my place without notice or cause, and even illegally towed my car! He is now trying to evict me claiming I have not taken care of my home.

I have been in a legal battle with him for 2 years now. The first year I represented myself and thought we had come to an agreement yet the bullying and intimidation continued. Last year I hired an attorney as it was clear that my landlord did not want to work things out. I am fighting to keep the home I love and now we are looking to go to trial. I have spent all of my savings on attorney’s fees and now am at a point where I need to ask for help.
