A Heartfelt Message - With love, Shareefah

Dear Beloved Clients,

It is with deep humility, vulnerability, and love that I share this message with you today. Many of you have known me for years—some since my early days in practice. You’ve watched me grow, give, pour, and serve this community with every ounce of my heart. I’ve always believed that healing starts with human connection, and from the beginning, I have chosen to honor that over profit.

As you may know, I have been navigating immense challenges due to the national stimulant shortage that began in October 2022. While other practices have chosen to charge clients $25–$30 (and sometimes more) for each pharmacy switch, medication adjustment, or prescription request, I have refused to take that route. I chose the ethical path, even when it meant pouring from an empty cup.

I truly believed that this shortage would ease up, but it hasn’t. The emotional, spiritual, and financial toll it has taken on me has been heavy—especially as a single mother who receives no outside financial support. I have poured everything I have into this practice: my savings, my energy, my time. I have invested in trauma training, continued education, and even created a pitch deck for the new vision of what Irie Psychiatry could become.

But today, I am exhausted. And yet—I am not giving up.

I will continue to see clients on a limited basis starting July 14th while I take on a 13-week contract at a prison in Miami. This opportunity will help me regain my financial footing, but what I truly need—deeply and desperately—is a break. A moment to pause. To breathe. To travel with my son Niko and see the ocean with my own eyes rather than through the stories you’ve shared from your travels. I have lived vicariously through you for so long, and now I need to live for me, too.

I am humbly asking, if you are in a place to do so without causing yourself financial stress, to consider donating $30 to help fund a brief Caribbean getaway for me and Niko. Just 5 days to reset, reflect, and restore. I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t needed.

To my students, those in transition, or anyone who cannot give—please know there is no pressure. Your love and presence have always been a gift.

But for those who have asked how to support me, or have told me they wish they could do something—I ask you now. If you believe in me, if you’ve felt my heart in the care I’ve given, if you want me to be able to keep going—please consider this small but mighty gift.

They say, "Ask and you shall receive." I’ve spent years giving. Today, I am finally allowing myself to receive.

P.S. - Check out the Irie Psychiatry Pitch Deck. My goal is to raise $100,000 which sounds insurmountable but I'm going for it. For you guys. A dollar and a dream. If we can find 100,000 people to donate $1 towards a mental health advocate and lifelong provider (especially if we count the years of me growing up in a Jamaican family without mental health services - yikes). Thanks guys! I may be going to Jamaica next week or I may be driving up to Orlando for another "fun" day at the park walking miles and miles in the heat. You decide! lol just kidding. Have a beautiful weekend and thanks for anything you can do.

With so much love, gratitude, and hope,

Dr. Shareefah Hamilton Davis, DNP, PMHNP-BC
