Support a Happy Home after Palisades Fire

Dear Family and Friends,

On behalf of our family, thank you for your love, generosity, and kindness. We are so grateful to have you in our lives during this unprecedented time.

As many of you know from Ode to a Happy House, my parents, Jeffrey Morris and Patricia Kovic, lost their home of 26 years, as well as my dad’s design office and most of their belongings in the Palisades fire. This has been a big shock for our family. In the last few weeks, my parents have secured temporary housing in West LA. Southern California had its first rain of the year this past weekend, and now the reality of everything is slowly setting in.

There has been an outpouring of love, and many have reached out asking how to help. For those wishing to do so, Alexzandra and I have created this fundraising page for my parents. With our house gone, there are many unknowns. We don’t know what the future holds, but we want to keep every option open. Our hope is to create a plan that allows my parents to remain in their beloved neighborhood, which we all consider home, and to support them through this trying time.

Our Edgar St. block is already organizing to bring back and restore the Marquez Knolls community, but it will take years. Alexzandra and I want to help our parents in re-imagining a life in the neighborhood they cherished and the community they helped build.

We know that no dollar amount can replace everything, especially original work. But if you are able, please consider donating—every contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. Donations will go toward non-covered expenses.
