Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
(Verily, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.)
My name is Jameelah. I’m a mother—though right now, I feel like I’m just a shell of the one I used to be. On July 7, 2025, my 21-year-old daughter, Samiya, returned to her Lord.
She was my baby girl. My light. My smile on hard days. My “Ummi, I love you,” after every phone call—even if it was just to ask for advice or even give it.
Now… I’ll never hear her call me Ummi again.
I’ll never see her in white on her wedding day.
She’ll never hold her own child in her arms.
All of those dreams… buried with her.
Samiya was kind. The type of kind that made people feel safe. She gave people the benefit of the doubt, always believed in good—even when the world didn’t deserve it. She was a believer, a lover of Allah, and someone who truly carried herself with grace and sincerity. Everyone who met her said the same thing: She made you feel seen.
And now… she’s gone.
And I, her mother, am left with the unimaginable task of preparing my daughter for her final resting place.
As Muslims, we honor our loved ones with a proper Islamic burial: ghusl, shrouding, janazah prayer, and a respectful grave. I want to do this the right way. The way she deserves. But I cannot do it alone.
I’m humbly asking for your help.
We need to raise $1,500 to cover her funeral expenses. Every dollar you give is not just a donation—it’s an act of sadaqah. A piece of kindness to help a grieving mother lay her daughter to rest with honor, dignity, and care.
If you can’t give, please share.
If you can’t share, please make du’a.
But if you can give… please, give.
Burying a child is a pain no mother should ever feel. But with your support, at least I won’t have to carry this weight alone.
May Allah reward you for every penny, every prayer, and every ounce of care.
And may you never feel the ache I’m feeling now.
With love and a mother’s broken heart,
Jameelah Thomas-Rasheed
