Karly (the "Smiling Rocket") is a member of Canada's Biathlon National Development Team, which grooms aspiring young Olympians.
Training for the Olympics takes a lifetime of dedication. Here is an opportunity to be a part of a young athlete's journey who is on track to compete for her country.
In the 2018/19 season, Karly won:
-- the bronze medal in the Biathlon 10km at the Canada Winter Games
-- the gold medal in 10 km skate at the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championships
-- the silver medal in the sprint race a North American Biathlon Championship
-- competed for the first time in the Biathlon World Junior Championships in Slovakia, with a mid-pack finish
Karly competing in Slovakia at the World Junior Championships
Training is expensive. Being a professional athlete in Canada means living below the poverty line. The time most people spend working, Karly spends training....and then she works and volunteers with aspiring athletes on top of that.
Karly's Olympic Dream Path:
2019/20 -- Compete at World Junior Championships with a top half finish
2020/24 -- Qualify for Canada's Senior Biathlon Team
2020/25 -- Achieve top-pack results on the World Cup Circuit
2026 -- Represent Canada at the Olympic Winter Games
Don't worry....your contributions will not be buying skinny, fat, tall, grande, milk laden, soy-filled lattes!
One year of training costs approximately $25k (training fees, equipment, camp fees and competition expenses). Room, board, and general living expenses are paid for by Karly and her family.
Supporting Karly is more than fueling her dream, it's about supporting all the youth who will be motivated and inspired by her journey. In the same way Beckie Scott and Sara Renner inspired Karly, she too is inspiring the next generation of young athletes.
