Emergency Bills to Bridge New Job Paygap

THE ISSUE:
I'll cut to the short of it. Everyone helped my partner and I in such an extraordinary way last year when I was also out of a job for the summer and looking for something new. Unfortunately, in the year since, I discovered that the workplace I'd signed onto, at minimum, not for me. Toxic, anxiety inducing, random sudden demotions and pay cuts that were never corrected or asked of anyone else in the business, bigotry, racism, sexism-bordering-on-worse, belittling, and a litany of other horrors. I put up with this horrible, abusive behavior for months because I thought things would be easier if I tried looking into the job market while I still had one.

But things hit a breaking point in early August, and I could no longer wait the toxic job out. It wasn't the smartest financial decision, but it was the best thing for me. And the job search finally started moving again (it's a horrible market out there, and it's been a very long year) once I left, a small miracle in itself.

TL;DR: I landed a great new job last week (not a scam this time, I learned that lesson), but it doesn't start until the 16th. I haven't been able to rebuild anything since last year's job search due to this most recent one constantly changing my pay, hours, etc., so I have...no buffer left.

WHAT I HAVE DONE:
I've applied for SNAP, but that was also an exercise in frustrating nonsense and that doesn't kick in until after my first job day (so we're struggling on basic expenses too). Unemployment does not consider my toxic workplace toxic enough for a "good cause" quit (even though it fits the criteria), and the months involved trying to fight that wouldn't get us the help we need now.

WHAT WE NEED:
We need, at minimum, $600 to get bills beyond rent paid/until (hopefully), income starts rolling in again. This is set at the $2200 maximum just in case income is too late to get rent paid on time as well.

  • MINIMUM $600: breaks down into loan ($400), credit from last year ($65), phone ($80), insurance ($54)
  • GOAL @ $2200: breaks down into the $600 (above), then rent ($1600, which is under the amount, but we can figure it out from that point)

ANYTHING extra would be used for groceries and basic amenities. I have faith this new opportunity will work out well, but it's that final couple of weeks that are proving to be a hurdle.

I know this is a big ask after last summer (and trust me, I would not be here, repeating history, if the situation had not been a nightmare). We just need help with that final push.

Thank you so much for your time, regardless; we appreciate everyone's help (past and current), and it is my sincere hope to be able to put this behind me soon and actually have the means to start to pay it forward.
