I am a first-generation college student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Physics at San Francisco State University, driven by a passion for using research to make a positive impact on the world. Growing up in a low-income household, I graduated high school with honors and have worked tirelessly to overcome financial challenges. Alongside my studies, I mentor others in their spiritual growth and work part-time as a personal trainer & fitness instructor, and barber to support myself.
The journey hasn’t been easy. To pursue my education, I’ve made significant sacrifices—risking my credit score by relying on credit cards for tuition, pulling all-nighters to complete assignments, and even skipping meals to make ends meet. Despite the challenges, I remain determined to achieve my goals and graduate in the summer of 2025.
Physics has always been my passion. I’ve excelled in math and been fascinated by science for as long as I can remember. In high school, I was the only student who took on the challenge of the AP Physics exam, which gave me the confidence to pursue the subject in college. My primary research interest lies in electricity and magnetism, an area I hope to contribute to meaningfully.
Outside of academics, I’m committed to mentoring others and building a better community. I lead a campus club focused on spiritual health, leadership, and personal growth. Mentoring other men has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life—I’ve seen many who were ready to give up on school find the strength to persevere and succeed academically.
One of the hardest periods in my academic journey was during the pandemic. When everything shut down, I struggled to focus on assignments and felt disconnected from the true value of education. At times, it felt like I was just going through the motions to earn a degree. With the support of mentors, friends, and family, I found the perseverance to overcome that difficult time. Now, after six years, I’m proud to say I’m finally nearing the finish line.
Every donation helps me take one step closer to earning my degree and pursuing a career in research. Your support will not only help me pay off tuition and reduce debt but also allow me to focus on finishing strong. Thank you for believing in me and being part of my journey toward a brighter future.
