Support a fired Homegrown worker
Donation protected
In June, workers at Homegrown sandwich shops and wholesale delivery and production facilities delivered a majority petition demanding a fair process to organize a union without threats or retaliation. We have been asking the company to respect our decision to have more control over our work and lives and win respect at our jobs.
Josh has worked for Homegrown (then Molly’s) for 4 years and has been a leader in the organizing at the Renton distribution facility. As the lead on his shift, Josh is respected by his coworkers for the work he puts in every day. Josh poured heart, soul, devotion, and sacrifice into the job. He was constantly stepping up, covering shifts, and training. As he and his coworkers used to joke, he was the “Josh of all trades” at the warehouse.
During the January Omicron surge, Josh was part of organizing a petition demanding Covid sick leave, winning raises for him and his coworkers in Renton. This action inspired many Homegrown workers to stand up and be part of the union organizing that is happening today. On Monday, he was fired - while organizing our union.
Recently, after getting short notice to move from their rental unit, Josh and his family used the money they had been saving to fix their broken car on a deposit and first months rent for their new apartment. Then their last working car they had been sharing broke down and caught fire.
We have Josh’s back. To allow Josh to stay in the fight with us, we are asking for your support for Josh and his family with this sudden loss of income.
All your generous support will go to rent for their new place, bills, gas, and anything else they need to make it through this time.
