Dear friends,

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share the devastating news that our dear friends, David and Rie, have received — their beautiful young son, Len, has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. After receiving this tragic diagnosis in Japan, they are now making an emergency journey home to Perth to be close to family and the care of Perth Children’s Hospital.

The outlook is heart-breaking — there is, sadly, no chance of survival — but the family is determined to bring their son home to familiar surroundings, surrounded by love, support and the comfort of those who care most deeply for him.

Both, Alex Coughlan and I are raising funds to help cover the significant cost of a medical evacuation flight from Japan to Perth — a specialised service necessary to ensure he travels safely and with dignity. This will also allow David and Rie to be together as a family during these final precious days, supported by medical professionals and their wider community.

This is an unimaginable time for them, and while we cannot take away their pain, we can stand beside them. Your donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward this emergency flight and any urgent needs that arise for the family during this incredibly difficult journey.
