Hello, we are MARS (the Maastricht Anti-Racist Society), a student association based in Maastricht. We organize many events, especially movie screenings followed by discussions. We're driven by the interest and necessity to tell stories and highlight narratives that lack visibility.
We are hosting a special free screening of a powerful film - "Sudan, Remember Us" by Hind Meddeb (2024) about Sudan’s revolution—a story of resilience, hope, and determination in the face of a revolution. The film captures the spirit of young Sudanese people opposing the brutality of the regime, resisting through their words and art, and being part of the 2019 revolution.
The screening is free because we want everyone to have the chance to witness this story. At the same time, we want to honor the filmmaker’s incredible effort and dedication to documenting Sudan’s revolution, so we’re asking for your support.
We’re inviting those who can to donate whatever they’re able to. Your contribution will help us recognize the filmmaker’s work and show our appreciation for bringing this important story to the world. *Hind Meddeb is a Tunisian-French director and journalist who visited Khartoum in 2019.*
This movie matters because Sudan’s revolution and the ongoing war are underreported and often overlooked. The film sheds light on the struggles and aspirations of the Sudanese people, especially young people who are serious about making change. It’s an important and timely message that deserves to be seen.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. All the collected money will go to the director of the film as a sign of our appreciation and solidarity.
Thank you so much!
