My current wheelchair is falling apart. One hand rim is about to fall off (two of the four tabs are now broken), the seat and back upholstery are rapidly disintegrating, and one caster lets out screams of protest that WD-40 can only silence for so long. The frame is bent so that the other caster barely touches the ground, hence the reason the first is screaming, and I've got a couple vital screws that slowly unthread. The chair, overall, is in a state of disrepair, having lived up its five year life cycle.
I don't have Medicaid (long story). And there's enough to replace on here that it would cost half or more the price of a new chair. I tried for a payment plan on the new chair, but was auto-denied. (I only just started building my credit)
I've made great strides (figuratively, of course) since becoming a father and have scaled my income immensely from the little to nothing it was at just 2 years ago. Although I am building up, I cannot yet afford a decent wheelchair and my dilapidated chair is becoming a hazard to myself and my little one. It's decrepit state is slowing me down as my baby is greatly picking up speed.
With $2,400 I could get a nice new wheelchair that will help me keep up with a toddler and should last me at least 5 more years while I continue to get my life together and scale my income.
Any contribution toward my goal would be greatly, and eternally, appreciated!
