Support Rodney Foster’s home rebuilding project

Friday, September 27 was a day that my family will never forget. Hurricane Helene travels over 400 miles from the Gulf Coast all the way to Greenville, SC to my home. We experienced sustained winds over 30-40mph with gust as high as 70mph. In a 24 hour period I measured over in excess of 8 inches of rain and it topped over 10 inches before it cleared. Combine all of these items that brings me to why I am here today.

Extremely humbled I am writing this post. At 6:30 am we lost power as did hundreds of others. At 7:02 am, the picture shows where 2 oak trees in excess of 80 feet tall were uprooted and crashed into our home. These trees fell directly across the right portion of our home and has destroyed all 3 upstairs bedrooms as well continuing to destroy the downstairs bedroom. As I mention our home above, this is my home where I also have my 82 year old parents living with me as their primary care giver. It was at 7:00 am that I had just aroused my father to be with myself and my mother. 2 minutes later, my father would have be crushed and trapped under where those trees fell. By the mighty grace of God, the 3 of us and my dog Zachery survived this terrifying event without even a scratch.

And old glory continued to fly high.

Now clean up and rebuilding begin. This is now where my request begins. Generally in my 60 years I am the one always with the giving hand to others in need. I am finding it so humbling to now be the one asking for assistance. Through unknown turn of events, I was told yesterday I have no insurance coverage for this catastrophe. I can’t tell you how heart broken we were over receiving this news. Early estimates are exceeding $100,000 - $125,000 to bring us back to where our home started prior to 7:02 am on the 27th. My goal is to just get us back to the home we knew, and my parents back in the bedrooms where they can put this behind us and live for the future.

We were so blessed by God for his safe hand and I feel we will be blessed from the love and generosity other during this process. Any amount you may be able to spare, words will not be able to express our gratitude for your contributions.
