Support a Family's Recovery from Connecticut Flood

On August 18th, 2024 there was a flood in multiple parts of Connecticut that were recorded to be the worst floods in the state since 1955. Because of the flooding, my home in Newtown has been destroyed. Personal values such as clothes, jewelry, shoes, appliances, electronics, beds, couches, most furniture, & a lot of family photos have all been ruined.

My father has lived in this house for 40 years and made his own memories in this house just as I have. I can tell this is hurting him, and he won’t show it. Because of the flood my dad had to be emergency evacuated out of the house and had to leave his personal things of value to save himself. He not only lost some personal items in the house but a garage & full basement of storage including his truck and motorcycle that have been ruined in the flood.

I myself, was out of town on a work trip and was not there at the time of the flood. I had no opportunity to take any thing out of my apartment ( on the first floor of the house ) and had to pray that my dad was okay through it all. Both him and I have lost thousands of dollars in valued personal items and even more on the water damage to the house. We will spend months trying to rebuild and fix our home with now having to house hop / buy hotels rooms. While doing this I work full time and am a part time college student.

Out of everything, I am just happy that my dad and I are safe and okay through all of this, but we have a long road ahead of us financially and mentally.

To be able to afford to fix the damages caused by the flood I am asking anyone who can, to donate / share. I hate asking other people for financial help as I am a very independent person, but it has come to a point where that is all I can do. The cost of fixing everything will be thousands of dollars that we do not have and insurance won’t cover. If you could donate / share any amount I would be so grateful!
