My family's Mexican store was burned to the ground in a tragic fire last night. The store was started by my stepfather more than 20 years ago, when he had just moved to the United States. A few months back we were finally able to buy La Oaxaqueña so this has devastated our family. That store has been our livelihood to support 4 kids and the rest of our family abroad and has served our community since the beginning, the back was even loaned to the local baptist church before they were able to find their own space. As of now, the fire department has categorized it as a total loss, which leaves my family without its main source of income to support two small children under the age of 10 and my grandmother back in the DR.
