Hi Everyone! My name is Claire Parker, and I am part of a group raising emergency funds for our friend and neighbor who is fleeing an unsafe home.
After enduring extensive physical and emotional trauma—including a recent incident that will have lifelong medical impact—this young mother has courageously left an abusive relationship with her small children. The family is currently in a shelter and safe, but this is only a temporary solution as she receives critical medical care and organizes legal protections.
We're so proud of this massive accomplishment, but this family's journey ahead is filled with varied challenges, a lengthy recovery, and working through the trauma of their years-long abuser. The family was only able to leave with minimal belongings and will need to secure permanent safe housing. Our friend has done an amazing job protecting and caring for her children in a hostile environment, and we hope to help her provide for their basic needs as they stabilize.
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Rather than give to a nonprofit, please contribute to help this beloved and resilient Chicago family rebuild their lives. Every dollar counts and will provide them with resources to ensure that their future is safe and stable.
There are bright days ahead of this beautiful family. Thank you for your support towards those days!
*Offering limited details due to safety concerns. Her abuser is still at large and a threat to the family.
