Support a Family's Fight Against Addiction

Donation protected
I’m reaching out for support during an incredibly difficult time for my family. A close family member has been struggling with addiction for a long time, and recently, they reached a breaking point. To protect their privacy, I’ve chosen to keep them anonymous as the beneficiary. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward the cost of their treatment and help them rebuild their life. I will make sure the funds are used productively towards their health and safety.

I know I'm not alone in witnessing the corrosive nature of addiction, watching it erode the bonds of family, friends, health, and hope. I am incredibly proud of my family member for reaching out for help, and now I’m reaching out for yours.

A week ago, my family member experienced a life-threatening health emergency. Upon their release from the hospital, I was able to secure a bed for them in an inpatient treatment facility. However, since they are an uninsured individual, we are left to cover the cost of this care out of pocket. While we are working on enrolling them in public healthcare, even that would not cover this facility’s expenses. I felt it was essential to provide help as soon as possible after they expressed an interest in treatment, so I accepted financial responsibility for this facility because it was the only open bed I was able to find.

Addiction in America has been referred to as an epidemic, which is no exaggeration. But while this public health emergency rages on, all too often families and friends are left to navigate it alone. Tragedies compound and break down families, communities, and counties. My family member is now homeless, jobless, and fighting a battle to regain their selfhood after a long struggle with addiction. To fully combat this emergency, we will need profound changes to our public infrastructure and society at large. Until that unlikely day, we rely on the kindness of others, as I am now. Anything over the cost of inpatient treatment will help towards getting them back on their feet on the journey of sobriety and healing.

I’m reaching out to you for any assistance possible to ensure my family member can fully take advantage of this chance for recovery. They asked, I answered, and now I humbly ask for your help.

Thank you for reading and for any support you can provide—whether through a donation or by sharing this page. We are incredibly grateful for your kindness and generosity.
