Support a Family-Owned Christian Bookstore

Hi, my name is Sheryle Hughes and I am one of the three owners of Queen of Peace Bookstore and Holy Family Gifts in Vancouver, WA, along with Kevin and Robert Hughes.

 

Queen of Peace Bookstore has been a Vancouver staple for 25 years. In the past several years, its well-known and loved founder and former owner, Alice Bennett developed increasing health issues and could not keep it up as well as she had in the past. Many, especially in the local church communities, were concerned that the store would fail. This year, by God's grace and just before Alice passed on, our family was able to purchase Queen of Peace and save it from closing forever, and we are so grateful for this opportunity to bring the store back to life and serve our community.

 

However, because of Alice's failing health for so long, the store was in dire straits when we purchased it. We have strived to keep our employees and pay them before we pay ourselves. While things are looking up at the store--new merchandise, a greater selection of popular items, and an easier ability to order items online and make custom orders--we are still on shaky ground.

 

We need your help! Please consider donating to Queen of Peace Bookstore. Your donation, big or small, will help us get out of the hole and thrive again! We plan on holding book signings, having a book club, and having classes at the store and online. We are also developing a membership plan that has us excited. As Queen of Peace has always done, we support Christian charities, including pro-life charities, and we support our fellow local small businesses.
