Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out during one of the hardest moments of my life. I’ve unexpectedly become a single mother—at least for now—due to the heartbreaking injustices happening in our communities.

Earlier this week, my partner was on his way home after giving a friend a ride (he’s always the one helping others), when he was involved in a car accident and arrested. Since he didn’t have an ID on him, he was held on a 24-hour hold. By the next day, I was told he was under a 48-hour ICE detainee hold. By the following afternoon, he had already been taken by ICE and transferred out of state to Oklahoma.

We had just moved into a new home and were finally getting close to being financially stable. And then everything changed overnight.

I’m now doing everything I can to keep our family together and support our two young daughters—just 18 months and 4 years old. We don’t know when we’ll be able to see him again, and I’m trying to raise enough to cover unexpected expenses;

Legal costs; power of attorney and immigration-related paperwork or legal aid

A deposit into his commissary fund, since he has no ID or access to money

Emergency expenses as we figure out what happens next on top of daily expenses.
