My mom, Sophia, my special needs sister, Kathryn, and their beloved dog, Rocco, faced a terrifying ordeal during the recent hurricane. As floodwaters rose to their chins, they had to make the harrowing decision to wear life vests and swim to the safety of a nearby Publix parking lot.
They lost everything – their home, their belongings, even the most basic necessities like beds and Rocco's food.
With no power and nowhere else to go, they were forced to sleep outside the store during the night, enduring flooding and harsh conditions.
My mom is a strong woman who dedicates her life to helping children in the child welfare system. My sister, Kathryn, has Dup15q syndrome, but her beautiful spirit shines through every day. Rocco is their loyal companion, providing comfort and love.
They need our help to rebuild their lives. Donations will go towards:
