Support a Family in Urgent Housing Crisis

Donation protected
I'm reaching out to ask for your support in helping my best friend with an urgent housing crisis to avoid homelessness. We've started a GoFundMe campaign to secure housing and need your generous donations to make it possible. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to ensuring she and her son will have a safe place to call home.

In February of 2024, my friend was offered a job that perfectly matched her sociology degree. She gave her two weeks notice and was excited for the start of a new chapter in her life. Tragically, she developed appendicitis and had undergone emergency surgery the Friday before the start of her new job.

During her recovery time at the hospital, she had emailed her new employer and requested a zoom meeting to discuss postponing her start date for a week, to allow for her recovery. When discovering that she would not be able to begin training the next day, he rescinded the offer without hesitation, leaving her unemployed, recovering from surgery, and facing what would become her worst nightmare.

Returning home, she began filling out job applications and continued, with no success.

Fast-forward to May 2024. She had just left an unsatisfying job interview when her vehicle began to misbehave, eventually dying, and required a tow. Feeling defeated, she began searching for work-from-home jobs, to no avail.

After submitting more than 40 applications, and attending more than 20 job interviews, she landed a full time job. However, the income was too late in arriving to save her apartment.

She was able to earn enough to move to a motel to keep a roof over she and her son's head. However, she is completely out of savings, and the cost of the hotel every two weeks is equal to what she is earning every pay period.

Luckily, their application has now been accepted at three apartment complexes in town, where she can utilize public transportation to work, the doctor, and the store. Here is where your help is needed. They have enough for either the deposit or the first months rent: but not both.

The deposit will (only) hold the apartment for 24 hours.

Can you help?

Your generous donations to our GoFundMe campaign will provide the critical support they need to secure stable housing and avoid homelessness. Any amount helps and is deeply appreciated.
