On July 14, 2025, there was a severe downpour that caused the gutters in both my building and the one next door to overflow. Water entered my apartment through the ceiling and light fixtures, damaging nearly everything I own. I’ve lost approximately $6,000 in personal belongings, and I recently found out that my renter’s insurance does not cover damage from external flooding.
Instead of offering proper assistance, my landlord only reduced the rent increase by $50 to move me across the hall — while still raising my rent by $200/month. I have no time or funds to search for a new place, and no support system to help me pack or move what’s left. I’m currently sleeping in the same bed with my daughter due to the damage, and it’s been a constant struggle.
My preventive worker suggested the shelter system, but that is not a safe or appropriate environment for my daughter, who has ASD and ADHD. I’m doing everything I can to avoid that path, but I truly need help — even the smallest amount would make a difference right now.
If you’re able to support or know of any programs or resources that could help with moving assistance, financial relief, or safe housing, please let me know.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
funds will be used to replace my bed and box spring.

and be able to hire a task rabbit guy to toss the old furniture and move the new furniture hopefully across the hall. Or go to a shelter until I can save more to not put myself or my daughter In yet another walk up where landlords get away with this… I have lived in all with major issues. This time landlords fault and I have to pay. I am sorry to be asking for this support.
please share it around. I do not have family or help from any organizations.
