For over 30 years, a group of friends has stood by a remarkable man who has always put his family and community first. Today, we are coming together to support him in a time of urgent need. Our friend is facing an upcoming ICE appointment that threatens his ability to remain with his family, who depend on him as their primary provider. For the safety and privacy of everyone involved, we are keeping all names confidential, but we hope our story still resonates with those who understand the importance of family and community.
The legal fees required to protect our friend and his family are significant, and the stress of this situation is compounded by the fact that he is the sole provider for a family of four. The funds raised will go directly toward attorney fees and help cover essential living expenses, ensuring that his family can remain stable and cared for during this uncertain time. We have seen firsthand the positive impact he has had on those around him, and we know how much his presence means to his young son and daughter.
Here are a few words from those who know him best:
"I met Vincent in 2011, shortly after I began dating my now husband, BL. I also met his partner, in 2011 and at the time, his only daughter. Since then he has been a family friend. I’ve had the privilege of watching Vincent grow as a parent. Through humor, and lots of it, he is able to connect and help his friends, and children get through challenging times. I have seen his daughter grow as a student, get to college as a first generation college student, major in science, and is now a practicing registered nurse! While it takes a community to raise a child, he has helped to create a community of friends that feel like an extension of his growing family. Most recently, we got to spend an afternoon with his son (6) and Vincent before watching the Sunday 49ers football game. The bond with his youngest child, is deep. His son's curiosity and thirst for learning about plants, fruits, vegetables, and gardening was heart warming as a science educator. At the park, we helped him pick Feijoas, and as we continued our walk, he kept asking about plants and learning what’s edible. Back at home, we loved exploring our garden and sharing his knowledge. The foundation to be open and curious to explore and ask questions has always been a reflection on Vincent, who has always worked non-traditional hours to make sure his children are cared for. With his sons promising future, we cannot allow his son to become a statistic without Vincent in his life. Through my career as an educator, I’ve come across a lot of struggling students and families that don’t make it and become dependent on the social services system. Vincent is a testament to the real American dream of growing a family that is successful and giving back to the community. While his oldest is the first to graduate, his daughter and son are also doing well in school and will surely follow in her footsteps from the foundation Vincent laid."
"I met Vincent in 1995, through a mutual friend and we have been close since. Over the last 30 years of knowing Vincent I have seen him endure many hardships and persevere each time. His spirit to overcome adversity and do the right thing is a testament to all those who have faced past transgressions. In that, I have always been able to turn to him in my time of need. Specifically I would like to point out that Vincent has spent dozens of hours over the years fixing and repairing several vehicles that I have owned. It is an incredible privilege to have a friend who can advise you of your vehicles’ mechanical issues, however, Vincent would actually fix my vehicles for free! Even if I offered him money, he would not take it, as he was always most concerned that I had reliable and safe transportation. Additionally, it is important to mention that this was not a one off, and that Vincent was the only mechanic who worked on my vehicles for years, for free! Likewise, he has always been an incredibly reliable friend. If I needed help moving, or a friend to confide in, I could always count on him. In the last 30 years many friends have come and gone, however, he today remains one of my closest friends, and now as his family continues to grow, I am able to share in the joyful experience of seeing his kids grow up first hand."
"Vincent has always at his core has been a hard worker, a family man, someone dedicated to family and community. He has always been self-taught with a drive to improve himself. I have seen several iterations of him professionally: as a hairstylist, a nail technician, a line cook, a chef, an autobody mechanic, a rideshare driver. And throughout all that time, he has always worked harder than the average worker and supported more than himself. He has worked to support a father who passed from cancer and a young family. He has worked to support his mother when she was alone and dealing with cancer. I have seen him come to work bringing food for other hungry co-workers on a regular basis, even when he was struggling himself. I have seen him lend money to friends and family, even when it was a hardship for him to do so. The most recent iteration of Vincent has been one of family man. Vincent works as best he can to make sure that he has set up a future for his children. His daily routine as parent includes dropping off and picking up the children from school, making sure his children are positively engaged throughout the day, cooking and feeding the family in the evening, and working tirelessly to provide financially. Seven days a week. Vincent is immensely proud of his daughter who has worked so hard to become a nurse, his younger daughter whom he has taken special care to assure she has the proper nutrition she needs, and his son who has the same free-spirit and curiosity that Vincent has. And he loves his wife, whom he partners with in attempt to live their American Dream."
"I have known Vincent since 2021. As a friend Vincent is a loyal person who provides moral support and positivity, especially during difficult times. His cheerful and joking nature makes people laugh and puts them at ease. I recall a time I was visiting California and had unexpected car problems after a long drive down from Portland OR. Vincent instantly offered to help and showed up in person. I had known him for less than a year at the time, however, when he heard of my troubles, he insisted on diagnosing the car problem. He came with me to the auto repair shop and helped me understand what was necessary (and unnecessary) for me to fix when I was provided with an astronomical quote. He helped me navigate my way back to Oregon once my trip was over and offered me follow-up steps to keep my car in good working order. Vincent helped again the next year when I endured a severe car accident in 2023. My car was totaled by the insurance company, and I needed to purchase a car. Because I was suffering from injuries at the time, Vincent again insisted that he help research my next purchase to ensure that I bought a car with high safety standards and within a price range that fit my budget. He provided me with multiple options, including suggestions for new vs. used cars that met my requirements. Most importantly he provided me with patience and compassion at a time when I needed it most."
We are deeply grateful for any support from the community that helps this man remain a pivotal figure in his family’s life. The thought of permanent removal is devastating, especially for his children, who rely on him every day. Your generosity can make a real difference, offering hope and relief to a family facing unimaginable challenges. Thank you for standing with us and for believing in the power of community support.
