DHS is trying to deport me for two misdemeanor convictions that I have already served my probation for. I am no longer able to work due to a work injury fifteen years ago. I also have a condition called Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). This is a degenerative brain disease that progressively damages the brain over time. It's thought to be caused by repeated head injuries, including concussions and non-concussive blows, and is often found in athletes and military veterans. CTE is incurable and permanent, and worsens slowly, eventually leading to dementia.
My legal fees are being paid by my 78-year-old mother.
I have a 22-year-old daughter who is autistic and has both physical and mental health issues. I have been her primary caregiver for her entire life. DHS does not care about this. Their opinion is she, an American-born and raised citizen, can always move.
I am also autistic, have mental health issues, and am part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have a beautiful deaf pit bull who I may not be able to take with me due to breed-specific legislation. She would likely be destroyed.
