Hi everyone,
My name is Rhonda, and I never thought I’d have to share a story like this — but life has taken a turn I couldn’t have imagined.
I recently rented a home that turned out to be completely unsafe. It had no heat, no air, and was infested with roaches and other bugs. When it rained, water poured inside, and eventually, the house developed severe mold.
One day, while I was cooking, I went into my room and suddenly passed out. My daughter found me unresponsive and called 911. I flatlined once in the ambulance and twice in the hospital. The doctors said the mold had caused my throat to close up.
On top of that, the outlets sparked, and the stove would catch on fire. When city code enforcement came, the home was found to have over 50 violations, and I was forced to vacate immediately — leaving me and my daughter and animals without a home.
Right now, we’re staying in a hotel. It costs $700 for five nights during the week and $280 on weekends. Every dollar I make goes straight toward keeping a roof over our heads. I thank God every day that we have somewhere to sleep, but it’s not a home.
There are nights I cry myself to sleep from the stress and fear of what’s next. Some days, I can only afford to eat chips just to make sure my girls have what they need. This hardship has also made it impossible to keep up with bills — I’ve fallen behind on my car insurance, though I’m doing my best to stay current on my car note so I can keep working.
If you’re able to help, any amount would mean the world to me and my daughters. Your support will go directly toward helping us secure a safe home and cover food and basic necessities while we rebuild our lives.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, and caring.
Even if you can’t donate, your prayers and encouragement mean everything.
With love and gratitude,
Rhonda
