Support a Family Displaced by Storm Damage

This is my forever home that I purchased in 2018 as a single mother of 3 daughters. On April 8th, the same day as the solar eclipse a tree fell on our home. I filed a claim with my insurance the same day and received a call from my adjuster the following day. The adjuster advised me to get the tree removed as soon as possible and tarp the open area of my roof as soon as possible to prevent further damage. Keep in mind it stormed all that week and no tree removal company was willing to remove the tree due to safety reasons. It rained in my home for 4 days. The water damage was so severe that my ceilings were on the floor and water began to run down in the vents on the first floor. I wasn’t able to upload all the pictures but the damage was bad. By Friday the storms had cleared and I was able to submit quotes to my insurance company. All were denied due to the prices of the tree removal quoted. That following Monday I met with the field adjuster to assess the damages of my home and tree was still not removed. He asked why hadn’t the tree been removed and I told him the insurance company wouldn’t approve anyone to remove the tree due to pricing. He got on the phone and told the insurance company that the tree needed to be removed immediately. The insurance company finally approved the lowest quote for the tree removal the same day. A week passed and I finally received the adjusters report and the numbers for my house to be fixed were low. I’m not a specialist but I knew the amount of money approved was not enough to fix my home. I found a contractor for a second opinion and the price given was almost 3 times the amount quoted by my insurance. I hired legal representation to assist with getting the right amount to fix my home. All renovations was halted at that time by my lawyers. They wanted to bring in a adjuster to get the right dollar amount to fix my home. To make matters worse the insurance company didn’t waste anytime increasing my premium. The price doubled from the previous amount as if I asked the tree to fall on my home. While all of this is going on my family and I were being shuffled around from hotel to hotel. The stability I had provided for my children was gone. I was awarded a certain amount for living expenses and I knew the funds would not last long. The adjuster that my lawyers sent finally came to assess my home on the July 2nd. The rain damage had already caused mold in my house 2 weeks after the tree fell so imagine how bad it had got by July. The adjuster assessed my home and I was waiting for him outside. He closed the door and told use to not go back in because the house was hazardous due to mold. The poor man was sick after spending 2 hours inside my home assessing it. I hadn’t been back to my home in a while so I didn’t know the mold had gotten so bad. The mold was everywhere all over my furniture and other items, crawling up the walls etc. Not only was my house damaged but I had lost almost everything in my home. Now a mold specialist has to be retained to test the mold because my house has to be totally gutted out. My living expenses will run out at the end of August and I can’t afford to pay my mortgage and pay rent somewhere else for me and my family to live. It’s either continue to pay my mortgage and be homeless with my kids or take the money that I pay for my mortgage and secure a place for us to stay and lose the home I worked so hard for. It hurts my pride to ask for help but when it comes to daughters I will put my pride aside. I’m asking for 1 dollar donations to assist with living expenses until my home is repaired. If I can get 18,000 people to donate a dollar, that would pay for rent priced at 1,500 a month for a year. If you can’t help I truly understand because these are difficult times for everyone.
