Help family rebuild after devastating mid north coast flood

Dear family, friends, and community,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support regarding Sarah, her partner Gus and their 7 month old baby girl Sylvie Beau - a young family who have lost everything in the recent devastating floods on the Mid North Coast of NSW (Rawdon Island).

After years abroad, Sarah and Gus returned home to Australia from the U.S. to start fresh and raise their daughter close to family. They poured every dollar of their savings into the move and into setting up their home, a place they hoped to grow roots and create lasting memories. Tragically, the recent floods have taken all of that away.

As the floodwaters surged through their property, the family did all they could to prepare by raising furniture on stilts and securing belongings. But the sheer force and depth of the water, which reached over 2 meters inside the home, overturned everything. As seen in the photos, all appliances, furniture, baby essentials, irreplaceable keepsakes, and basic necessities have all been destroyed.

While we’re still assessing the full extent of the damage to the property, farming machinery, and livestock, we know a massive clean-up and recovery lies ahead. This natural disaster has forced them to relocate until the home can become liveable again.

Now displaced, they are facing the overwhelming task of starting from scratch, and struggling to replace even the most essential items for their baby or themselves.

In light of this situation, we have set up this GoFundMe to help them get back on their feet - to replace what they’ve lost, to create a safe space for their daughter, and to ease the burden of this traumatic experience. We know many families and communities have also been affected by these floods, and our hearts go out to all of them.
