Hi, my name is Vikki. It's been a terrible past 6 months. I tried like heck to make it on my own, but I cannot do it by myself. My husband left me at the end of July 2024 because his parents took him for the 6th time, as they hate me for no reason. We were very happy together.

My daughter Tiffany and her husband Nick live with me. They help as much as they can, but only she works.

This has been a terrible year so far. My husband divorced me on January 22nd, and 3 days before that, I was fired from my wonderful job. Those who know me know I'm a good person that helps anyone if I can.

I am so far behind in debt now; it's horrible.

I owe for oil and propane, vet bills because my dog was very sick, light bill, cable, basically everything. My rent's coming due on the 1st, and I have no income at all. I applied for general assistance, but you can't get it until after 120 days from losing your job. By that time, the bills will be astronomical. I have applied for unemployment, but won't know until the end of the month. My name's in all over, but I understand, it's the worst time of the year. I have absolutely no degrees or certification for anything.

I've applied for MaineCare as I'm on quite a few prescriptions I cannot afford on my own.

I'm very upset not being able to pay my own bills myself. They say what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, but I'm not too sure about that. I know it has me crying frequently from worry. I don't know what will happen if we get evicted, where we would even go?
