My name is Kimberly and I am collecting donations on behalf of my dear friend, Geraldine. These are her words:
My name is Geraldine, and I'm reaching out in the most difficult moment of my life. On 28th December 2025, a devastating landslide struck my family home in Purwakarta, West Java, Indonesia. My father was killed in the disaster—the only casualty of this tragedy that has destroyed everything my family built.
The landslide has left our home in a designated danger zone where authorities have prohibited us from returning. What was once our family's foundation is now buried under earth and debris, and the area remains at critical risk for further landslides. I am now displaced, unable to go home, and facing an impossible situation: I must arrange my father's funeral, support my family's immediate needs, and find a way to rebuild our lives while searching for work in this crisis.
Why I Need Your Help:
Rebuilding our home: We have lost everything and need funds to relocate and rebuild in a safe area.
Living expenses: While I search for stable employment, my family needs support for food, shelter, and basic necessities.
The loss of our house came also with the loss of the center of our family, the man who held us together, and the stability we once had. I am currently a PhD student studying in the United States. I am working as hard as I can to find employment but right now, the weight of this tragedy is more than I can carry alone.
