Support a Dream: Help Fund a Tech Degree

Growing up as the middle child to a poor single mother taught me to get by with what we had. The first time I tried to go college, like most people when they are 18 years old, I did not know what I wanted to do with my life and what I was passionate about. After 15 years of bouncing around manual labor jobs, I have realized I will not be happy or make the income I aspire to by doing what I am doing. Last year I met the love of my life and having her has motivated me to reach for my dream of working with computers. I have enrolled at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood Colorado to earn an Associates of Science degree in Network Technology. I want to be my happiest self and provide us with a life we can be proud of.

As a child, I was always fascinated with electronics. I would take apart old radios and put them back together, to see how they worked. All that tinkering has led to a passion for computer hardware. After building my first PC during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I discovered a love of troubleshooting and fixing computers. I want to earn a degree in network technology so I can design and repair computer networks for a large data center. Going back to school as a 34-year-old has its challenges; from having to work full time to cover adult financial responsibilities and balancing the time between work, school, and my relationship, earning my degree will be one of the hardest challenges of my life. Not having to stress about how I will pay for school will allow me the space to focus on school and get the most out of learning as I can. 100% of the funds from this fundraiser will go towards tuition. I am taking out all the available federal student loans, but even with those loans I still am about $2,000 short. With your generosity, I can earn my degree to provide for my budding family with a better life, find meaningful employment in an industry I am passionate about and feel fulfilled and satisfied with my life’s choices.
