I’m a former professor who became disabled starting in 2017. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hypermobility type), along with a whole host of associated conditions like POTS, dysautonomia, IIH, CFS, and fibromyalgia. I also struggle with major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and PTSD.

I have been trying to get on disability since November 2024, when I ran out of savings and finally accepted that I was permanently disabled and would not be able to work again. My initial application was denied, as is typical here in the US. But I’ve been waiting almost a year now for a decision on my appeal.

My partner lost his job this week. My family is no longer able to help. We are both writers (I’m halfway done with my book) and working hard to find a way to support ourselves.

I know times are tough, but anything you can give to help us get through the next few months until we get back on our feet would be amazing.
