I’m Jonathan 'JB' Brasfield, a service-disabled veteran and the owner of OpExcellence Tree and Stump Pros in Shreveport. While crossing the street in a crosswalk in front of Bally’s Casino in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Sunday night, December 21st, I was struck by a pickup truck.
The accident left me with a shattered pelvis, a broken left elbow, and a shattered right leg, all of which required metal inserts to reconstruct those parts of my body. The surgery took over eight hours and has left me in excruciating pain that I will have to push through during the rehabilitation process, which is expected to last 12–16 weeks.
During this time, I will not have the mobility that is essential for me to run and build my Tree service company. OpExcellence Tree and Stump Pros was just awarded 2025 Tree Service Company of the Year in early December 2025, as determined by having the highest five-star rating of all Tree service companies in the greater Shreveport-Bossier metropolitan area. I am also one of only four licensed, fully insured, ISA-certified arborists in the Region.
This accident has significantly impacted my ability to continue executing my business model and has created extreme financial difficulty for me personally, as well as for the families of the employees who depend on this company. Asking for help is completely out of character for me, but this is a critical situation.
Any level of financial support you are willing to provide will help assist me during this recovery period and help keep my business operating for my employees and their families. Any donation is welcomed and deeply appreciated.
Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart for your generosity, prayers, and well wishes. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and continued blessings into 2026 and beyond.
