Bob needs surgery! Disabled vet Paul & his dog Bob
Donation protected
This is Bob, a fantastic service animal and loyal friend of 10 years. Currently, Bob is in dire need of surgery to remove internal tumors. Bob has traveled across North America with me to see all the wonderful sights and people this world has to offer. We've been from coast to coast and even made friends in Canada! Along the way, Bob took photos with his newfound friends so that we would have memories to treasure for a lifetime. Today, we're asking for support from Bob's friends all over the world. Here are a few pictures of him making new friends wherever we stopped!
Normally, we would rely on the VA to address healthcare costs and concerns. Unfortunately, the overly complex policies in place at the VA are preventing Bob from receiving the care he so desperately needs. Although Bob meets ADA standards for a medically covered service animal, the VA's intentionally strict and arbitrary guidelines have excluded him from coverage for this life-saving surgery.
I am a 100% disabled veteran whose life has been saved on multiple occasions by the relationship to my dogs. The VA's own research shows that veterans with service animals are 66% less likely to develop PTSD, something that I deal with every day. Bob and I are working tirelessly with our local congressman, senator, and even reporters to change the VA's policies to include care for these essential companions. Service animals, and pets of any kind, have a life-changing impact on countless veterans and we consider dogs like Bob an essential member of my support network who deserves affordable care. With enough support, we hope to not only save Bob's life but the lives of countless other veterans and service animals. Any money donated beyond the goal to cover the cost of Bob's surgery will be donated to other pet-owning veterans whose companions need medical care.
