Hi, I’m Kornel, a solo game developer and full-time father of two. I’ve been building games since I was 12 and spent over 20 years as a full-stack developer working with UK companies like Tesco and TripAdvisor. But games are where my heart lives. Through my YouTube channel KoryCode, I teach game development and share my passion for creative coding. Venusville is my dream project — a floating city builder set in the clouds of Venus — and I'm pouring everything I have into making it real.
Story & Concept
In Venusville , you’re the pioneering architect of a floating settlement above the acidic storms of Venus. Set in the planet’s habitable cloud layer, your mission is to lead settlers as they construct a buoyant colony, harvesting energy, mining atmospheric resources, and unlocking the mysteries of Venus. The game places you in a strategic yet awe-inspiring sci-fi world where the skies are both home and hazard.
Core Game Loop
Each session begins with colony expansion: placing buildings, balancing weight, and managing buoyancy to keep your city afloat. You’ll grow food through hydroponics, synthesize SyntoMeat, and generate power using solar panels and Stirling engines adapted to Venusian conditions. Over time, you optimize production chains and harness your colony's mobility to chase sunlight and avoid deadly storms or corrosive clouds.
Unique Game Mechanics
A key mechanic is buoyancy and balance—every structure has weight and lift characteristics. You’ll carefully position heavy components like engines or batteries to avoid catastrophic flips or destabilization as storms assault your city. Mobility is equally important: engines let you shift location to safer altitudes, resource-rich zones, or brighter solar exposure—all of which affect your colony’s survival and growth.
Atmospheric Audio & Music
While the visual and mechanical identity of Venusville is strong, its soundscape is about to become equally unforgettable. That’s why I’m partnering with award-winning composer Tilo Alpermann —from The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and multiple indie accolades—to deliver an original soundtrack tailored to Venus’s alien skies. His ambient scores, textured layers, and hybrid instrumentation will bring tension, serenity, and awe to your floating colony.

Story & Lore
Venusville invites you into a world of corporate intrigue, scientific ambition, and hidden secrets. As your colony grows, its settlers uncover traces of anomalies within Venus’s clouds, shadowed corporate agendas, and while your colony fighting for freedom. This mix of survival, exploration, and narrative development gives the game emotional weight beyond mechanics.
Art Style & Visual Identity
From the billowing yellow-orange skies to sleek hydroponic domes and solar arrays, Venusville presents a clean, stylized aesthetic that blends industrial grit with sci‑fi minimalism. Its colour palette— with warm hazy light—emphasizes the otherworldliness of Venus’s atmosphere, making each structure and storm both beautiful and foreboding.
About me
Beneath the façade of a game developer and father, I’m someone who lives to create, explore, and inspire. From childhood, I’ve been drawn to technology and the mysteries of space—and as a lifelong gamemaster, storytelling has been my compass. My first Steam game, Multiplication Mayhem, was born from a single purpose: helping my daughter master multiplication in a fun way. Now, with Venusville, I’m challenging the dominant narrative of Mars-first colonization to show that Venus can be a hopeful frontier. I wrote a book years ago, I teach and code on my YouTube channel KoryCode , and through this sandbox game with layers of lore and narrative, I want players to dream of a better future—one where humanity learns, explores, and builds freedom beyond corporate control.
Working solo on Venusville has been both rewarding and humbling. I’ve created low-poly models, designed UI, and even learned 3D animation—all to get the visuals to match what lives in my head. But when it comes to audio—music and sound effects—I hit a wall. Stock tracks may fit individual scenes, like a storm or a night time ambiance, but they lack cohesion. They don’t capture the tension in a collapsing city, nor the quiet wonder above Venus’s clouds. I’ve tried layering existing sounds, but nothing evokes the world I’m building. I need a musical voice that aligns with my vision—to turn physics, storms, and settlement growth into a symphonic experience that feels alive.
Community & Social Impact Commitment
Venusville is more than just a game—it's your invitation to be part of a hopeful vision for space exploration. By supporting this project, you're helping shift the narrative from Mars-dominance to a rich, scientific, and inspiring story about Venus. That impact—on education, creativity, and imagining better futures—goes beyond gameplay.
Gratitude
All backers will be warmly acknowledged—your name in credits, exclusive updates. Al funders will get a Beta access for the game and a digital OST of the music.
