Help a Courageous Young Mother and Her Child Start Over

Hi everyone! I'm raising some money to help out a dear friend in need. She is a single mother escaping with her sweet three-year-old son from an abusive marriage. Her savings and car were taken from her, but she has already begun to pick up work just days after relocating to a new city. She is staying with a friend for now, essentially starting from scratch, but she is smart, kind, and determined to take care of herself and her child. At this point, all she needs is a little support to get her through her first couple of paychecks.

Without sharing all of the details, I'll say that this young woman has known hardship. She has survived unspeakable horrors, both in youth and as an adult. She remains kind, and generous, and funny, and strong. She loves to read. She's a passionate learner: studies history and government and everything else she can get her hands on. She is unbeatable in checkers. She is silly, and sharp, and proud of who she is and where she comes from. She is, not for the first time, taking bold action to protect herself and her family from those who mean to hurt her. She's afraid, but she is loved and she is driven.
