Support a Community Fashion School Dream
Donation protected
I come from a family of 9 sisters and 4 brothers. We didn’t have much, but we had a loving family. Growing up clothing was very difficult to obtain. During the school year I would have a total of two garments. I remember being constantly suspended for indecent exposure. I would make my clothes from pillowcases, as you know, there wasn’t a lot of fabric to work with. Due to this personal need, I put myself through college and earned two associates, a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree as well. Due to the expense of colleges, I didn’t want anyone to go through the same experience of expense.
Utilizing the knowledge obtained, it has always been my dream to create a Non-Profit Fashion School for the community and as a resource for any who desire to learn the skills of fashion or fashion students seeking to expand their knowledge or need resources. This would be for creative individuals, and all artists at heart. I envision a building where all possible sewing machines, easels for art, a space for fashion illustrations, patternmaking, construction of all types of fabrics, creating of unique designs and development, corset construction, bridals/evening wear development, and portfolio development. While understanding the construction of garments, all students will make garments to donate to the community and homeless shelters. We will also partner with the medical field to alter garments to suit medical needs.
To make this happen, I would need your open heart to fulfill this dream to be of service to my community and my love for the arts. I am seeking your passion and support for the arts and education in making this dream come true in giving back.
