Support a Coach's Journey to Recovery

Most people know me through volleyball, art, or my faith. Those who know me closer know my love for puns and humor in all things. I've considered it my pleasure to have coached and taught for free hundreds of students (kids and adults) over the last 30 years. It has always been my mindset to be grateful to God to have the ability to play, coach, and connect with soo many people and see them develop the sports, music, and art skills I've loved. And making people laugh as they learn is my ultimate win! So when several of my friends heard I was having to permanently stop both playing and coaching due to a severe hip injury ( a hip replacement surgery and extensive PT following), they asked how they could help. I tried to make a "Hip-hop" career change pun to change the subject, but It was through their sincere pushing I relented and looked into GoFundMe for the first time.

First, I'd love everyone to keep me and my daughter in prayer as I navigate this new season of going through a total hip replacement as a single parent. It has been weird raising a teen who both loves and hate my puns, but going through months of rehab won't be as funny and will be a challenge for both of us.

Secondly, It is my hope to fully recover to be not only a volleyball coach and player, but me being very active despite being someone still in there late 40's, I want to return to be an energetic and active coach. While insurance helps cover much of the costs, the pre-surgery care, actual hip replacement surgery cost, and post surgery care has not only depleted my savings but for the first time ever put me in debt. So the pain to ask for help is lesser than the pain of surgery and being deep in debt.

Lastly, I covet all your encouragement and kind humor as I progress from a walker ,to a cane, to eventually walking or standing without pain for the first time in years. And if you see me in a few months returning to a volleyball court to be kind and be patient with me as I return to a sport I've loved to play and coach for 37 years. So I want to thank you in advance for any coaching you have for me and helping me rebuild both my body and confidence in the world of volleyball and hopefully we can share a laugh in the process.
