This is veteran's service dog, Tsusga (Chewesga). I am trying to raise enough money to commission a sculptor to portray him in bronze and have it placed as a memorial to all veterans' service dogs.
While there are monuments to military working dogs who do amazing jobs in their own right protecting and defending our soldiers in war, there are currently no monuments to honor the amazing work service dogs do while serving disabled veterans. These selfless companions pick up the broken pieces and allow their veterans to regain a sense of normalcy and independence. From mobility issues to post-traumatic stress, these dogs are trained to help disabled veterans reenter society.
Tsusga has personally renewed my life and helped to give me a reason to get up every day. The bond between these veteran handlers and their dogs is amazing to witness.
I have already selected a sculptor who quoted the cost for the life-size bronze would be $18,000 plus the cost of the stone base and installation.
We have yet to select a location for the installation, but we do have some ideas, including a veterans' hospital or a national cemetery.
Thank you in advance for your support and God Bless!
